"Forest... for ever"
ITALIAN GEV in COSTA RICA and BRASIL
PLAN FOR THE SAFEGUARD OF THE TROPICAL FOREST AND ITS INHABITANTS
THROUGH THE ADOPTION OF TERRITORIES WHERE TO CREATE AREAS OF ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION IN COSTA RICA.
The plan previews to institute within 1999 two areas of protection of
the tropical forest: one in the heart of the Amazzonia (on the River Black
person close to Manaus), the other in the peninsula of Nicoya on the Pacific
depositor of Costa Rica. The initiative will be realized thanks to human
resources and financial institutions offered from the modenese citizenship.
WHY PROTECT THE TROPICAL FOREST?
Many are already the problems that everyone of we must face and can
appear strange to be involved in a plan so geographically and culturally far
away,
but we would like you to consider some things:
1 - our Earth is an only great spaceship that travels in the universe
and protect also a its small gear wants to say to safeguard all the
spaceship.
2 - the tropical forests represent one of last lungs greens of our
planet, absorb great part of carbon dioxide produced by our civilization,
contribute to the climate stability and defend from the " effect greenhouse
";
3 - The tropical forests cover only the 6% of the land surface but
they accommodate the 50% of the living species, this biodiversity is one
genetic patrimony and a source in great unknown part of resources for
humanity (25% of drugs sold in Italy derives from tropical plants) that risk
to disappear together to the destruction of the forest before being
discovered (still single 2 % of the species tropical have been analyzed,
supposes that they exist beyond 1400 species antitumor still disowned). The
threatened forest e' from the custom of " burns cultivates and escapes "
that it allows to only take advantage of the earth for the little years in
which remains fertile. The uncontrolled deforestazione for the industrial
use, the breeding brado of the cattle, the excessive withdrawal of money of
plants and rare animals are carrying irreparabili damages to the tropical
forest.
4 - Every day forest areas they are sacrificed to economic activities
that enrich little without giving some possibility of development to the
aboriginal populations. To safeguard the forest and crearvi development
possibility through sostenibili activities means also to save the Indios
that still lives to you, avoiding that they yield to the mirage of the "
city " where they end inexorably to where ingrossare the number of deprived
of hope that ne they are relegated to the margins in the sadly famous ones "
favelas ", paid higher price e' from " meninos from rua " forced since small
to fight alone for the survival and to endure violences of every kind.
5 - the creation of protected areas concurs with the local populations
a process of sostenibile development with their atmosphere, without to
destroy the greater patrimony that they have, the forest.
Costa Rica represents an example of as it is possible for countries of
the third world to have a sostenibile development through the creation of
parks and reservoirs where the local population can find job occasions: this
is a valid model to transfer also in Amazzonia.
6- the traditions, the acquaintances and the culture of the
populations indios are the most important patrimony for all the humanity: we
cannot lasciarle destroy from the been left over one of the " culture of the
city ".
...... e then in those places we have constructed to a
solid friendship with tantissime persons and children to which we have
promised not abbandonarli......... and that also you, if you want, will be
able to know and to help!
